AYSO Region 1505
AYSO Region 1505 was formed in 2005 to satisfy the need for a Soccer program in the southwestern parts of San Marcos, particularly serving the needs of the San Elijo Hills, Old Creek Ranch and the surrounding communities. In 2005 we had approximately 175 players and grew to just over 300 players in the 2006 Fall season. The 2007 Fall season we grew to approximately 340 players. Not only did we grow during the 2007 year, but we became an AYSO Charter Region!! We also received Honorable Mention in the Regional Assessment Program for actively supporting the AYSO Philosophies and Policies. Our growth continued in the 2008 season with over 450 registered players and we received Honorable Mention in the 2008 Regional Assessment Program!
For the first 2 seasons there was a heavy reliance on AYSO Region 127 (San Marcos). There were 2 basic reasons for this: player registration was low and therefore there were not enough teams to play within our own region AND the lack of volunteers (referees, coaches, regional staff) to help staff a new region.
The Fall 2007 season was extremely successful in that we operated as a standalone Region for the first time. As we continue to grow we are extremely excited about the upcoming Fall 2009 season. The Board has met monthly, they have attended training sessions, they have attended other region's board meetings and attended Area meetings; all for the purpose of providing a quality AYSO soccer program in Region 1505.
More parent/guardian involvement in the region will be required this coming season as we continue to grow. We want to provide more opportunities for our children throughout the year. But to do so, we are going to need more volunteers stepping up to help. There are many areas where volunteers are needed. Checkout the website for Volunteer Opportunities or email a Board Member for more information.
The Board is looking forward to fun and exciting 2009 Fall Season!! See you on the field!
