Region 1505 is run entirely by volunteers. Not mostly — entirely. Every coach on the field, every referee, every board member, every administrator working behind the scenes — all of us are community members who chose to give our time so that kids in our neighborhood have a place to play.
That's what makes this program possible. And it's what keeps it affordable, accessible, and open to every child in our community, regardless of background or experience level.
There's a role here for everyone. Whether you want to coach a team, help with organizing and administration, or simply show up and support — every contribution moves the program forward. If you've ever thought about getting involved, know that you wouldn't just be helping out. You'd be part of what holds this whole thing together.
What is an AYSO Volunteer?
A coach, a referee, a registrar, a fundraiser, a field marker, a publicist, a treasurer - many people, all contributing their time and efforts to make AYSO a great program for our soccer-playing kids.
What Do Our Volunteers Do?
Volunteers in our region wear many hats, supporting the program in countless ways:
- Coaches and Assistant Coaches: Lead teams, help players improve their skills, and ensure every player has fun.
- Referees and Sideline Referees: Help manage the game, making sure it’s safe and enjoyable for all players.
- Team Parents: Coordinate communications, snacks, and team logistics, making life easier for coaches and families.
- Skills Assistants: Help on the field with drills and skill development for players.
- Board Volunteers: Work behind the scenes to organize seasons and events, manage registrations, and keep the program running smoothly.
Why does AYSO need volunteers?
AYSO needs volunteers because AYSO runs exclusively on volunteer power. Nearly 150,000 registered volunteers run local AYSO programs all over the country. Even the National Board of Directors and National President are AYSO volunteers. If it wasn’t for the thousands of volunteers throughout the U.S. donating their time every season, AYSO would not be as successful and far-reaching as it is today.
Who can be an AYSO volunteer?
Almost anyone can volunteer. Moms, dads, sisters, brothers, grandparents, even friends. AYSO wants volunteers who want to help make our soccer program a fun experience for kids. Everyone plays in AYSO, and everyone has something special to contribute to the program.
How do I become an AYSO volunteer?
It's easy. When you sign-up / register your child, you have the opportunity to submit a volunteer registration for yourself. (Note that if you want to volunteer for multiple positions or on multiple teams, you must submit separate registrations per position per team.)
A great region stems from its volunteers. The more people that get involved each season, the better the experience for both children and parents.
